Oba Saliu Adetunji, the Olubadan of Ibadan, has expressed optimism that the custodians of traditional institutions in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, will protect embattled activist, Sunday Igboho.
In a statement in which he made this known, the monarch revealed that Igboho will be protected by the traditional institutions because he “lives in Ibadan, got married in Ibadan, rear children in Ibadan, built houses in Ibadan and as such, he has the rights to be protected by Ibadan traditional institution within the ambit of the law just like any human being in Ibadan.”
While disclosing that he has a delegation to Cotonou, Benin Republic, to observe the court proceedings of the case involving Igboho, which continues today (Monday, July 26, 2021), Oba Adetunji said he’s in constant touch with Yoruba prominent royal fathers, including Igboho royal crowns.
He, however, urged people to remain calm and be law-abiding, assuring that there won’t be a repeat of the Yoruba-Fulani collision of 1814.
