Why Yar’Adua was never a ‘darling’ to Northern Nigeria – Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker of the Eighth Senate has said that the late ex-President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua was never appreciated by leaders and residents of the Northern part of Nigeria.

Sani also said that the late Yar’Adua was more loved and preferred in death than when he was alive.

In a post made on X, the former lawmaker explained that the Northern leaders and the residents at the time preferred former

President Muhammadu Buhari to Yar’Adua.

He made the post in memory of the late former president who passed away 15 years ago.

He wrote, “It’s 15 years since the demise of President Yar’adua. He was more appreciated and loved long after he died than when he was alive.

“He was not the darling of the North because Buhari was preferred. The rest part of the country lashed him because of “Cabal”.

“Later years, after people experienced hardships, their “bodi tell them” and their “eye clear”, they looked back and realised he was a good man.

“Yar’adua lived most of his life in Kaduna until he became a Governor. He was a simple man with no interest in material acquisitions. How he ran the country by lowering petrol prices is still a mystery. May his soul rest in peace, Amin,” the former lawmaker wrote.
