The family of the late former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hassana Garuba, has said the wife of the deceased and her driver are still with their abductors.
It was widely reported on Saturday that Mrs. Garuba had regained her freedom, but a close family source dismissed the report.
The family member noted that security operatives misconstrued the mother of the deceased for his wife.He also explained that the children were not in the vehicle at the time of the kidnap operation.
According to him, the kidnappers only took away Mrs. Garuba and her driver, and abandoned the mother-in-law in the vehicle.
The source also disclosed that the kidnappers had opened negotiations with the family but could not mention the amount being demanded as ransom.
Recall that Mrs Garuba and her driver were kidnapped after the remains of her husband was laid to rest on Saturday night in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
