”Wike, G5 should have honour and defect to APC” – Adeyanju

Deji Adeyanju, a former youth leader and ex-Director of New Media of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Saturday criticised the five aggrieved governors of the PDP, popularly known as ‘G5’, for ‘lack of honour and principle’.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Adeyanju’s criticism follows the G5’s widely-reported imminent support for Bola Tinubu, the presidential flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This newspaper had reported that the G5 – Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Samuel Ortom (Benue) met with Tinubu in London, the United Kingdom. They are believed to have sealed a deal with the APC candidate and effectively dashed any hope of backing their party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar in respect of the 2023 election.

Citing regional imbalance, the G5 are asking Atiku to persuade Iyorchia Ayu to resign as the National Chairman of the PDP, and hand over to a Southerner. But Atiku is unyielding.

For Adeyanju, the disgruntled governors should have been bold enough to move to another party, and support their candidate.

“Membership of a political party is not by force, the G5 Governors should have honor and defect to APC already and support their preferred candidate. Lack of principle is so irritating.” Adeyanju wrote on his known Twitter handle.
