The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said he will not allow himself to be politically sidelined ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Wike warned that repeating past political errors in Rivers State could end his influence, stressing that such a situation would not be allowed to happen again.

He made it clear that he has learned from previous experiences and is determined to protect his political relevance.

The former Rivers State governor spoke during a thank-you visit to Okrika Local Government Area, as part of his tour of councils across the state.

The visit was attended by party supporters and political allies.

While addressing the gathering, Wike said wrong political choices in the past had cost many leaders their careers.

He stated that he would not make the same mistake that led others into political obscurity.

Wike also restated his firm position on political agreements reached ahead of the Rivers governorship contest, insisting that commitments must be respected.

According to him, political understandings are not casual arrangements and should not be treated lightly.

Wike again aligned himself with President Bola Tinubu’s political camp, making it clear that his loyalty to the president remains firm. He dismissed any suggestion of backing alternative political forces within the state.

In his words, “We have taken a decision that there is no going back as far as Tinubu is concerned, but the other one, no way.”

He warned that any attempt to undermine his political structure would be resisted, adding that he would not allow himself to be pushed aside. He said past errors had shown what happens when leaders compromise their political base.

“If we make another mistake, they will go and bury themselves politically. I will not allow myself to be buried. I will not allow that mistake again; I will not,” Wike said.

The minister further described his political camp as part of the Renewed Hope movement, cautioning opponents to prepare for a tough contest if they stand against it.

“I want to assure you that it’s a Renewed Hope family, and if you are not a member, we will face you in the field. If you are not an original member, not a fake one, we will face you in the battle,” he added.

Wike also issued a strong warning to his rivals, saying they were yet to see the full weight of his political strategy.

“Let nobody bother himself because we will do what we know how to do. They have seen nothing yet; by the time we finish, they had better go and rest,” he stated.

  1. Wike you’re only but a small God, whose era is coming to an end. Only the true living God determines tomorrow’s outcome in all equations. At the appropriate time, he’ll say what happens next as far as Rivers state is concerned. Power is transient, your turn is gone for good in Rivers government house, no 3rd tenure by proxy.

  2. This man called Wike wants to kill himself because of power.
