Otunba Segun Sowunmi, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and governorship aspirant in Ogun State in the last general elections, has asked President Bola Tinubu to implement impactful programmes that can ease the sufferings of Nigerians.
“The whole essence of government is to ensure that people underneath their space don’t suffer unnecessarily. The government cannot exist only to be writing in the papers, making speeches and just promising hope when, in the real sense of the word, the everyday activities of the people reflect the opposite.
“2024 has commenced now, tangible, pragmatic steps that can water the Nigerian economy, water the Nigerian people so that it can trickle down.
“We’re not interested in high grandstanding, paparazzi, propaganda that this government has been characterised with over the past couple of years”, Sowunmi told Daily Independent.
He said the president should also ensure that Nigerians can sleep in their houses with their eyes closed, referencing the killings in Plateau State on Christmas Eve.
“The last killings that took place there must be the very last whatever needs to be deployed by the government to ensure it doesn’t repeat in the new year.
“The National Assembly should understand that they’re the representatives of the people, and their actions and inactions must reflect that they are alive to their responsibilities,” he said.
Well spoken. I think the president should listen to this.
