Ex-presidential aspirant of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, Adamu Garba, has said that Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, “has done an irreparable damage to his political career” following his ‘row’ with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and Senator Iyorchia Ayu, National Chairman of the PDP.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Wike has held a grudge against the PDP since the presidential primary in May.
After he lost the presidential ticket to Atiku – which he and members of his camp believe was unfairly influenced by Ayu – Wike accused the party of structural imbalance. He subsequently demanded the resignation of Ayu, citing the former lawmaker’s earlier promise to step down in the event a Northerner emerges as PDP’s presidential flag-bearer.
Efforts by Wike and Atiku to reconcile have been futile, with the Rivers governor and his allies ignoring the PDP presidential campaign in Akwa Ibom State on Monday.
I used to admire Gov. Wike, but with his recent actions to PDP and Atiku, he has done an irreparable damage to his political career. It’s not just about the party, it’s his personality.
It’ll be supposed that he’ll do that to any other person in any political party in the future
