Hours after the presidency announced the passing of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Nigerian Army has mourned his demise.
Lagbaja, the presidency said died on Tuesday at the age of 56 after a brief illness.
Following the announcement of his death, the Nigerian Army in a post on X said the late COAS dedicated his life to serving Nigeria.
The post also noted that the services and legacy left behind by Lagbaja will never be forgotten.
The Army posted, “Rest in Peace Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, Nigeria’s 23rd Chief of Army Staff, who passed away on November 5, 2024.
“You dedicated your life to serving Nigeria, with a distinguished career spanning over three decades. Your immeasurable legacy and contributions will never be forgotten,” the Army said.
It further added three Nigerian flag emojis to end its post on X.
