Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has expressed his disappointment with the behaviour of some netizens regarding the recent exchange rates.
According to Shettima, those who find amusement in the depreciation of the country’s currency, the Naira, against the dollar are ‘clowns.’
Shettima made this known while speaking at a function in Abuja on Wednesday, January 31.
In a viral video seen by Politics Nigeria on Thursday evening, Shettima said: “It is not only disheartening and disenchanting, but also heartbreaking that yesterday when the Naira culminated to N1,500 to the dollar, instead of us to coagulate into a single force and salvage our nation economy, sadly, some clowns are celebrating on Twitter of an impending implosion of the Nigerian economy.”

Recall that the Naira has been at its lowest against the dollar in the last one week.
On Thursday, the Naira traded at N1,500 against the American dollar at parallel market.
Meanwhile, Beureau De Change operators in Abuja have announced an indefinite shut down of their operations due the “scarcity of the dollar”.
