The Zamfara State Government has stated that it will not engage in any form of dialogue or negotiation with terrorists or other criminal groups.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the government has insisted that instead, it will wage an all-out war against these nefarious elements until they are completely eradicated from the state.
Abubakar Nakwada, the Secretary to the State Government, affirmed this position during a press briefing, shedding light on the ongoing efforts of Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration, as well as the preceding administration led by Bello Matawalle.
It can be recalled that during Matawalle’s tenure, his government embarked on a peace dialogue with bandits; however, the initiative was terminated in September 2021 due to the persistent onslaught of bandit attacks on rural communities within the state.
However, Nakwada has emphasised that the current administration has no intentions of pursuing reconciliation or engaging in discussions with the terrorists.
Instead, the Secretary to the State Government said the Lawal government’s unwavering commitment to relentlessly pursue these criminals, wherever they may seek refuge, with the sole aim of purging the state of their presence and restoring peace and order.
Nakwada underscored the administration’s dedication to maintaining accurate records, ensuring transparency, and upholding accountability within the governance framework.
Furthermore, Nakwada issued a stern warning, asserting that any public official who fails to uphold these principles in the execution of their duties will face dire consequences for their actions.
