2023: Fayose’s former aide dismisses Obi’s chances, says he’s not a threat

The former spokesperson to ex-Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, Lere Olayinka, has dismissed the chances of Peter Obi winning the 2023 presidential election.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, is the presidential flag-bearer of the Labour Party, and one of the frontline candidates for the 2023 election.

Despite his growing popularity, Olayinka, who is the House of Representatives candidate for Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II, said the next president of Nigeria will be produced by either the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“The PDP is the only alternative to the APC. If you do not like the APC, the only alternative is the PDP,” Olayinka told Punch.

“I don’t want to subscribe to the idea of a three-horse race. Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, is also in the race and he is not a pushover.

“The next President of the country will be produced by either the PDP or APC.

“Obi is not a threat at all to the PDP.”

  1. It’s easy to understand what Olayinka meant by the statement “Obi is not a threat” despite his daily growing popularity supporters.
I think Olayinka is banking on the old and known Nigerian electoral system’s status quo.
Otherwise how else could any candidate win election when is it done free and fair other than greater supporters voting for him or her ?

And my question to Olayinka is this.
Are you sure that old system will still work out this time around ?
