Fresh Facts have emerged on a meeting Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo convened with the Leaders of Afenifere, Middle Belt Forum, Northern Elders’ Forum, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Pan Niger Delta Forum in Abuja recently.
POLITICS NIGERIA learned that Obasanjo convened the 2 day-meeting to re-state his position that the country was fast drifting into a failed and badly divided state under President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to a reliable source, three serving governor attended the meeting namely; Governor Kayode Fayemi, Atiku Bagudu and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
The source also revealed that former president Obasanjo had intimated the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, before the dialogue was held.
Also speaking on the meeting, the Director of Engagement, Northern Elders Forum, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed disclosed that each group expressed reservations on the state of the country.
“There were a lot of things about the state of the nation. Every group expressed serious reservations and concerns about the state of the country, and we all committed ourselves to see all that we can do to pull out the country from the brink.”
If their intention is for good, fine it is a nice one the loapsided appointment in this administration is one to be worried about

Former President Obasanjo is expected to be apolitical in his struggle for the Nation’s development. He’s a member of the National Council of States where issues can be presented, analysed and proffer solutions. He’s the longest serving Head of State in Nigeria(as Military and Civilian leader). He became the Military Leader on the blood of Murtala Mohammed and he walked his way to Aso Villa stepping on the blood of M.K..O Abiola. He had all the time to turn Nigeria to the ELDORADO he’s preaching now. More so his Candidate in the last election was rejected by most Nigerians. When a child falls, he look forward but an adult will look backwards for the cause of his fall. The political will and courage to take hard and unpopular decisions by Buhari should be commended. The foundation he’s laying may be difficult for succeeding Govt to destroy. The pains of today are gains of tomorrow. All the people that delight in playing ethnic and religious sentiments will find sooner or later that ordinary Nigerians will see light and disembarke for their train with no destination. Chief Obasanjo wouldn’t have tolerated such holier than thou criticism from anybody while in office. Let people present superior and alternative ways of solving the problems confronting the Nation. The credit will go to them when they seek political office.
