Daniel Bwala, a spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign, on Wednesday challenged Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 election to “address a press conference and say he doesn’t support the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)”.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that according to Bwala, Nigerians need assurance from Obi that he won’t condone separatism if elected into power.
A October 1, 2017 video has been trending online where Obi said IPOB members are not terrorists, and that he lives with them.
IPOB is a separatist group that is leading an agitation for an independent state of Biafra which it wants carved out from the South-east and some parts of the South-south Nigeria.
The group has been accused of being responsible for the deadly attacks in the South-east.
The Nigerian government proscribed the group in 2017 and tagged it a terrorist organisation.
“Someone from @PeterObi camp replied my tweet that he will be in Abia, Imo and Anambra.
“As a patriotic citizen let him address a press conference and say he doesn’t support IPOB and there won’t be separatism in his govt going by the indissolubility and indivisibility of Nigeria,” Bwala said via his known Twitter handle.

Bwala himself should persuade Atiku Abubakar to immediately hold a press conference to denounce what Nigerians are already suspecting of him: that he is the chief sponsor of ISIS, the grand patron of ISWAP and the co-founder of Boko Haram.
