Nigerian lawyer and social media personality, Reno Omokri, on Monday said Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, “rejected” Bola Tinubu’s offer to be his running mate “because he knows Tinubu will lose and did not want to leave a sure thing (Governor) for an unsure thing”.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 election, on Sunday announced Kashim Shettima as his Vice Presidential (VP) pick.
Shettima is a serving senator and a former two-term governor of Borno state.
Zulum had been touted as one of those Northern politicians Tinubu was considering.
For Omokri, Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the APC, is “going nowhere” in the 2023 election.
“Zulum did not reject Tinubu’s offer to be his VP because he wants to focus on developing Borno. He rejected because he knows Tinubu will lose, and did not want to leave a sure thing (Governor) for an unsure thing (VP)! HE knows Muslim-Muslim ticket is going nowhere,” Omokri said via his verified Twitter handle.
