As the 2023 election approaches, the Director of Special Projects and New media of the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu/Kashim Shettima Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Femi Fani-Kayode has dismissed recent claims that the Northern bloc is seriously opposed to the candidature of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that there are reports that some powerful APC chieftains of northern extraction are working against the emergence of Tinubu as the next president of Nigeria.
But reacting to those claims during his interview with Channels TV on Wednesday evening, Fani-Kayode said majority of the APC governors are “solidly behind” the former Lagos State governor.
“The claim that the Northern ruling class, or whatever, are against Asiwaju, is a lie from the pit of the hell,” Fani-Kayode said.
“The overwhelming majority of the governors in this country, predominantly from the North, every single APC governor from the North, is solidly with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“There may be some Northern elites that are against him – just like there are some Northern elites that are against Atiku Abubakar (Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate), and that have sworn to work against him.
“We have the support of the people. We are going to win this election hands down.”
