2023: Why I rejected Tinubu as my running mate in 2007 – Atiku

A former Vice-President of Nigeria and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Friday said his friend, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, wanted to be his running mate in the 2007 presidential election.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Tinubu, the presidential flagbearer of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has chosen a Muslim running mate in respect of the 2023 election (Kashim Shettima), much to the displeasure of several individuals and groups.

Speaking in a recorded interview with Arise TV, monitored by this newspaper, Atiku stated that “the Muslim-Muslim ticket has always been my fundamental disagreement with Asiwaju”.

“Asiwaju planned to be my running mate in 2007 but I disagreed,” Atiku said.

“The Muslim-Muslim ticket has always been my fundamental disagreement with Asiwaju. Nigeria is a multiethnic and multi-religious nation and there should be a religious balance in our leadership.

“I also rejected the Muslim-Muslim ticket proposition in the APC in 2015. I’ve never supported it.”

  1. THE REASONS Atiku WILL NEVER BE PRESIDENT OVER NIGERIA ARE NUMEROUS AMONGST WHICH ARE PENCHANT FOR FRIVOLITY RELIGION WEIGH DOWN AND CANNOT MAKE THE HARD CHOICE FOR GOOD AND PROGRESS OF THE COUNTRY.

With the absurdity of religion addict and the psyche of sticky RELIGION. He is UNFIT to preside over the affairs of the country.

NIGERIA NEEDS AS A MATTER OF URGENCY, SOMEBODY WHO WOULD TAKE US OUT OF THE CURRENT CROSSROAD TOWARDS A GRETER HEIGHT. NOT LILLY LIVERED FRETS OF INDECISION.
