2023: Why Shettima should apologise to Nigerian workers – Atiku

As the 2023 election gathers steam, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked Kashim Shettima, the Vice Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to apologise to Nigerian workers for saying that the former Vice President should not think himself as an economic expert at all “because he has the ability to sell only bottle water”.

POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that Atiku owns a beverage company with the brand name Faro.

Speaking at the presentation of the manifesto of the APC to the business community and organised private sector in Lagos on Tuesday, Shettima stated that the certificate Atiku gained from the Kano School of Hygiene only qualifies him to be “wole wole” a Yoruba translation for sanitation inspection officer.

But reacting to those jibes in a statement by Paul Ibe, his Media Adviser, Atiku said Shettima should apologise to Nigerian workers, “especially the thousands that benefit from Atiku’s businesses for his irresponsible statement”.

“Politics does not confer on anyone the license to make irresponsible statements.

“A gathering of the top echelons of the private sector was supposed to be an avenue for laying out serious policy choices. For Tinubu and Shettima on the contrary, they chose to embarrass their guests, using their audience to play vile political games,” Atiku said.
