2027: “Whoever is going to defeat Tinubu must be ready to show red eye” – Datti

Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the running mate to Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election has said that anyone who is determined to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 polls must be “battle ready”.

Speaking in a recent interview with Nigeria Right Now, Baba-Ahmed said he had earlier warned Obi not to expect the judiciary to hand over the presidency to him on a platter of gold.

According to the 2023 Labour Party vice presidential candidate, there is a need for those who want to rescue the nation to stand firm and take necessary actions.

Baba-Ahmed said, “I told Peter Obi, the Supreme Court cannot give you governor and give your presidency for God’s sake, stand up and do something.”

He further alleged that Section 134 (2) (B) of the Nigerian Constitution was clearly breached in the delivery of judgement on the 2023 presidential election.

Continuing, he said, “Now if it was June 12 people that you breach not just the constitution breach.

“Breach just one small punctuation in their interest, I swear to god nobody will sleep, they must take it. So, as much as I dislike the fact that they are using the Nigerian Constitution you must give to them,” Baba-Ahmed.

Baba-Ahmed also said that, if the reverse had been the case concerning the past poll, Tinubu and his supporters would not have let go without putting up a strong fight or resistance.

“They fight for their interest and they can organise June 12 rallies and they can keep it up for three decades, and if you say no let’s go to court. Let’s go to court…

“Whoever is going to defeat Tinubu must be ready I’ll use the word red eye. You must show your red eyes if you’re going to defeat because on that day, as they are declaring the result, the people declaring fake results are criminals.

“And those who are stopping the declaration of fake results are good citizens. So, what they normally do is tell law enforcement look these are the people who stop me from declaring the wrong results. They’re criminals, they’re breaking your law and they are stopping me from committing a crime. Catch them because they are stopping me from rigging this election,” he added.
