Traders protest as officials enforce Soludo’s order to shut down market [PHOTOS]

Traders in Onitsha Main Market, Anambra State on Tuesday took to the streets of Onitsha following moves by officials to enforce Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s order to shut down markets in the state over the long-standing sit-at-home order.

The traders were seen in a video singing praises in solidarity with the incarcerated leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Gathered in their numbers and marching through the streets of Onitsha, they sang, “Holy, Holy, Holy, Nnamdi Kanu is another saviour”.

Also, some of the traders were seen defying the governor’s order by opening their shops while joining the singing crowd at the Onitsha Main Market.

POLITICS NIGERIA had reported that Soludo on Monday, condemned the continuous adherence to the sit-at-home order made by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu.

The governor while addressing traders’ queries the continued closure of shops within markets in the state despite the peace and calm in Anambra.

He further ordered that for the traders’ adherence to the Monday sit-at-home, markets would be shut down from Tuesday to Saturday and would be opened by next Monday.

However, shortly after the governor’s order, the IPOB in a statement announced that the sit-at-home directive stands.
