Plateau Senator Pam Mwadkon dumps ADP for APC
The lawmaker representing Plateau North Senatorial District, Pam Mwadkon has dumped his party, the Action Democratic Party (ADP).
Mwadkon announced his resignation from the ADP during the plenary at the Nigerian Senate on Thursday, January 29.
In a defection letter addressed to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, the lawmaker said his resignation from the ADP is due to irreconcilable differences among the party’s members and leadership.
He also informed the Nigerian Senate that he has joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to Mwadkon, the APC will provide him the opportunity and platform needed to champion his political desires.
He also stated that the ruling party will help him serve members of his constituents diligently.
Mwadkon’s defection from the ADP to the APC comes barely 24 hours after the governor of Plateau State, Caleb Muftwang was formally received by the leaders of the ruling party.
Mutfwang, a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party resigned his membership alongside key political leaders within the state including the deputy governor, Also defecting were Deputy Governor Josephine Piyo, members in the House of Assembly, other federal lawmakers, local government chairmen among others.
The event was witnessed by major leaders of the APC including the Vice President, Kashim Shettima and the Chairman of the party, Nentawe Yilwatda, who presented the party’s flag and the broom symbol to Governor Muftwang.
