The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its State, Local Government, and Ward congresses in Adamawa State.

In a letter dated February 17, 2026, addressed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the party communicated the decision.

The letter, signed by APC’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, stated that a new date for the congresses would be announced in due course.

“We write to inform you that the State, Local Government, and Ward Congresses for Adamawa State have been postponed. A new date will be communicated in due course. Thank you, and please accept the assurances of our highest regards,” the letter read.

According to sources, the postponement is intended to give Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri time to finalise a planned defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC ahead of the congresses.
