Igboho Tasks New Ambassadors to Work With Tinubu to Improve Nigeria’s Global Image

Sunday Adeyemo, a prominent Yoruba nation activist, has called on Nigeria’s newly appointed career and non-career ambassadors to work closely with President Bola Tinubu to help improve the country’s global image and perception.

Igboho urged the envoys to utilise their experience and expertise as technocrats and leaders to achieve success in their respective diplomatic assignments.

In a statement made available to journalists on Saturday, the activist also commended President Tinubu for the appointments and encouraged Nigerians, regardless of tribe, religion, political affiliation, or ethnic background, to continue projecting the country positively despite its socio-economic challenges.

Politics Nigeria on Friday reported that President Tinubu announced the posting of 65 ambassadors and their countries of primary assignment in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Among those appointed are former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode, posted to Germany; Isaac Adewole to Canada; Reno Omokri to Mexico; retired Lt-Gen Abdulrahman Dambazau to China; Kayode Are to the United States; former Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ayodeji Oke, to France; and Chioma Ohakim to Poland.

Igboho particularly welcomed the appointment of Fani-Kayode and also commended Francis Olushola Alao and President Tinubu’s lawyer, Oluwole Afolabi, for their roles.

“I, on behalf of Chief Fani-Kayode, want to specifically commend President Bola Tinubu for deeming it fit to appoint him and other Yoruba indigenes as ambassadors for our diplomatic missions. This is indeed commendable,” Igboho said.

He added, “It is also important to thank the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Olushola Alao, and President Bola Tinubu’s lawyer, Oluwole Afolabi, SAN, for their roles in Fani-Kayode’s appointment as the nation’s ambassador to Germany.”
