Again, Shiites stage fresh pro-Palestine protest in Bauchi

In celebration of Quds Day, members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria staged a fresh protest in support of Palestine.
The protest which took place on Friday, March 13, saw members of the movement popularly known as Shiites occupy the streets of Bauchi.
Speaking on behalf of the Shiite members, Ahmad Yashi said the protest is part of the movement’s activities lined up to mark the Quds Day.

According to Yashi, the Quds Day is observed all over the world on the last Friday of every Ramadan.
He also noted that with the protest, the IMN and its members have shown that they stand in solidarity with Palestinians who he said have been under invasion and oppression for many years.
“This is a known demonstration held on the last Friday of every month of Ramadan worldwide under the Quds Day platform. It is to show support and sympathy for Palestinians who have been under invasion for about eight decades,” Yashi said.

Adding that members have always been peaceful with their demonstration, the group’s leader debunked the claim that they aim to break the law with the protests.
He also denied reports that the protest will likely disrupt activities in the state due to the killing of the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei, in an Israeli airstrike.
“We are with Iran in heart and soul. They are targeting the Iranian Supreme Leader to make the country surrender, but they are mistaken. The Supreme Leader, as a religious authority, is among those dousing tensions.
“We conducted a peaceful demonstration in support of Iran, and every Muslim must take a side in this war. You are either with the righteous or with the oppressors,” Yashi added.
