IGP Disu visits Maiduguri bomb site [PHOTOS]

The Acting Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu has visited the site of the multiple suicide attack in Maiduguri, Borno State’s capital city.

Disu’s visit comes barely 24 hours after multiple bomb explosions rocked Maiduguri, killing 23 people and injuring over 100 others on Monday, March 16.

The police in a statement issued on Tuesday said the IGP’s visit was to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) to visit some of the victims of the attack.

From the hospital, the IGP headed straight to the Maiduguri Monday Market bombing site for an on-the-spot assessment.

Disu later visited the Borno State Government House and the State Police Command Headquarters for engagement and review of the state security measures with the aim of improving coordinated response effects.

Commiserating with the victims of the attack and the families of those who lost their loved ones, the IGP assured residents of the Nigeria Police Force’s resolve to dismantle all networks responsible for the attacks and prevent any recurrence.

He further assured that security has been significantly tightened, with enhanced deployments, increased surveillance, and robust joint operational measures across Maiduguri and its environs to forestall any further threats and ensure public safety.
