Insecurity: Gunmen Launch Fresh Attack in Kebbi, Kill Man and Abduct Wife

Gunmen have killed a 35-year-old man, Sufiyanu Garba, and abducted his wife during an attack in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi.

The incident was confirmed on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Bashir Usman, who said the command had launched a full investigation.

The Kebbi State Police Command expresses concern over an unfortunate incident that occurred in the early hours of today, 13th March 2026, in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi, which resulted in the death of Sufiyanu Garba, aged 35, and the abduction of his wife,” Usman said in a statement.

He explained that detectives promptly visited the scene and began investigations immediately after receiving the report.

According to Usman, the victim was rushed to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed his death. His body was subsequently deposited at the hospital morgue.

Usman noted that a police checkpoint is located near the scene and urged residents to provide prompt information to help security operatives respond quickly to emergencies.

The Commissioner of Police has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case to ensure a thorough and diligent investigation aimed at rescuing the abducted victim and bringing those responsible to justice,” he said.

The police command also assured residents that measures are being taken to strengthen security across the state and encouraged the public to report emergencies promptly through its 24-hour distress lines.
