Tinubu finally redeems housing pledge to D’Tigress [PHOTOS]

The Federal Government has redeemed its housing pledge to all members of the D’Tigress for winning the 2025 Women’s Afrobasket in Cote d’Ivoire.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu had in August 2025, promised each member of the team a reward of $100,000 cash and an additional $50,000 to members of the technical crew.

Each member of the team and officials were also promised a flat in Abuja,  Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the members of the team and their officials were conferred with the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).

The pledge was made to the team upon their arrival to Nigeria after defeating Mali 78-64 in the final, at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan.

However speaking on Monday, the National Sports Commission (NSC) said the players have received the documents and certificates of their houses and national awards.

According to the commission, the team members were given appropriate documents for their property and the award in Lyon, France, where they are participating in the FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament.

The NSC Chairman, Shehu Dikko said the Federal government is on the verge of finalising the redemption of the $100,000 cash reward for the players.

He also assured that the players and the officials would soon start receiving alerts for the pledge made to them by President Tinubu.
