‘I’m Still The President’ — MC Oluomo Challenges Baruwa After NURTW Secretariat Seizure

Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo, has declared that he remains the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), despite recent developments at the union’s national headquarters.

His reaction followed reports that Tajudeen Baruwa had taken over the NURTW national secretariat, citing court rulings in his favour.

The development has sparked fresh tension within the union, with both sides laying claim to leadership authority. Baruwa reportedly based his actions on judgments he believes validate his position.

However, MC Oluomo has dismissed the move, describing it as unlawful and premature.

In a statement shared on his Instagram page on Monday, MC Oluomo described the incident as a “forceful takeover.” He maintained that the legal process regarding the leadership dispute is still ongoing and has not been concluded.

He stressed that the court decision being referenced did not involve him directly, and therefore cannot be used to remove him from office. According to him, the matter remains in court and should be allowed to follow due process.

The statement read, “The National President wishes to intimate members of the union and the general public that he was not a defendant in the purported judgment.

“The judgment has been appealed, and a stay of execution has been duly entered.

“He has not engaged with Mr Baruwa or any individual, aware that cases are pending in court.

“The situation is under the control of security agencies.

“Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya remains the National President of NURTW.”

MC Oluomo further urged members of the union to remain calm and avoid actions that could escalate tensions across motor parks nationwide. He noted that security agencies are already monitoring the situation to prevent breakdown of law and order.
