2027: All NNPP Members in Ogun Defect to ADC in Strategic Move Against APC

Members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Ogun State on Saturday announced the defection of all their members to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The Secretary of NNPP in Ogun State, Rasaq Shofowora, said the decision was taken during an expanded party meeting held in Abeokuta and presided over by the party’s Chairman, Femi Aina.
“At an expanded meeting of NNPP Ogun State chaired by Barrister Femi Aina on 2nd of April 2026 at our Party Secretariat in Abeokuta, it was resolved that all party executives and members across the 20 local government areas of the state should register with ADC,” Shofowora explained.
He added that Aina instructed members to register with the coalition party in preparation for a significant development.
“The decision was unanimous after careful deliberation by all executives and members of the party present at the meeting venue. The move is also part of the ongoing efforts towards the transition of the party to ADC.
“The majority of the members of NNPP in Ogun State are resolute about the movement. They have no objection and are all ready to give support to Barr Aina, whom they believe strongly in as a man of integrity,” Shofowora said.
Aina reportedly assured members that all necessary arrangements had been made to facilitate a smooth transition. He also said there would be another urgent meeting with the ADC state chairman to consolidate the coalition.
“The collapse of the NNPP structure in the state into ADC is part of the strategic move to challenge the APC in the forthcoming 2027 elections,” Aina said.
Party members reportedly welcomed the development enthusiastically and were advised to register with the ADC and await further instructions.
