ADC Deploys Special International Representatives in USA, Switzerland, and Kenya

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has moved to expand its international presence with the deployment of special representatives to key global locations, including the United States, Switzerland, and Kenya.
The move is aimed at strengthening the party’s foreign engagement and drawing global attention to Nigeria’s democratic space.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports the development was made public in Abuja through an official statement by the party.
It explained that the new structure, known as the ADC Special Representatives Network, is part of a broader plan to build stronger ties with international stakeholders and institutions that support democratic governance.
According to the party, the decision follows what it described as a worrying trend in Nigeria’s political climate. It pointed to “undemocratic practices and attacks on opposition members and leaders” that have continued since July 2025.
The ADC said these actions include efforts to weaken opposition parties, interfere with internal leadership, and limit political participation across the country.
The statement noted that the newly created network will serve as a formal channel between the party and global actors. These include foreign governments, legislative bodies, international media, and pro-democracy organisations.
It added that the initiative is also expected to connect the party more closely with Nigerians living abroad.
Under the arrangement, selected representatives will act as official envoys of the party in the designated countries. They are expected to engage directly with policymakers and institutions, while also presenting the ADC’s stance on governance and reforms in Nigeria.
The party further explained that these envoys will be responsible for sharing updates on Nigeria’s political situation. This will cover key areas such as electoral processes, governance standards, and reported cases of pressure on opposition figures. The representatives are also expected to push the party’s reform agenda and policy direction in their engagements abroad.
ADC maintained that the move is necessary to ensure that developments within Nigeria’s political space are not ignored on the global stage. It stressed that democratic accountability must be upheld and that international partnerships remain important in safeguarding political freedoms.
The party insisted that the initiative is not only about advocacy but also about building credibility and trust with global institutions. It said the effort will help deepen conversations around democracy in Nigeria and create awareness of the challenges facing opposition politics.
