‘We Are Not Intimidated by Unlawful Whistles’ – ADC Fires Back at Presidency

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has responded strongly to comments from the Presidency, declaring that it will not bow to pressure or intimidation.

The party said it remains firm in its position and will not be swayed by what it described as “unlawful whistles” from government officials.

The reaction follows a remark by presidential aide, Bayo Onanuga, who had criticised the party in a recent statement.

His comment triggered a sharp reply from the opposition party, escalating tensions between both sides.

In a statement released on Saturday, ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, dismissed claims that the party was acting outside the law.

He insisted that the ADC is fully aware of its actions and has deliberately chosen not to follow instructions it considers illegitimate.

Abdullahi was reacting to Onanuga’s earlier post which read: “Just continue your illegality, the lawless ADC. The dog that wants to get lost in the forest will ignore the hunter’s whistle.”

Responding, the ADC spokesman pushed back using the same metaphor. He said: “The hunter you speak of has no jurisdiction in this forest.”

He added, “ADC is not lost; we are simply not following unlawful whistles. Besides, don’t forget, the forest hides that which hunts the hunter.”

The party maintained that its actions remain within the provisions of the law. It stressed that political intimidation or public criticism from government officials would not deter its activities.
