Former Minister Pantami reacts to claim of dropping governorship ambition

The former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami has reacted to reports that he has dropped his ambition to contest in the 2027 governorship election in Gombe State.
Pantami in a response to a post on X, debunked the claim that the governor of the state, Inuwa Yahaya had prevailed on him to shelve his ambition to contest for the number one seat in Gombe.
The former minister’s reaction followed a post by an X user, Theo Abu who claimed that Pantami had agreed to forgo his ambition and support the gubernatorial consensus candidate for the All Progressives Congress in Gombe.
According to Abu, this decision was reached during a stakeholders meeting at the Gombe State Government House on Monday.
He also claimed that the former minister was not happy about the decision and the interference by the state governor.
Abu wrote on X, “FLASH: Gombe state Governor, Inuwa Yahaya has asked Prof. Isa Ali Pantami to drop Guber ambition and support APC consensus candidate during a stakeholders meeting this night at the Gombe State Government House.
“Pantami according to sources, was not happy with this decision,” Abu said.
Quoting Abu’s post, Pantami said that such a decision was never made by the Gombe State governor.
Pantami added that, on the contrary, Governor Yahaya had specially recognised him during the event.
The former minister said, “This is not true. Nothing like this happened. The Governor did not ask anyone to drop their ambition. In fact, the Gov. gave me a special recognition by inviting me to be among the speakers at the event.
“For your information, @TheoAbuAgada, you will never be successful with your evil agenda. If Allah (God) is with you, no evil plan will defeat you,” Pantami wrote in response to Abu’s post on X.
