JUST IN: Ex-Ondo Governor Mimiko Dumps PDP Ahead of 2027 Elections

Former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His exit was confirmed in a letter dated April 10, 2026. The letter was addressed to the chairman of Ward 7 in Ondo West Local Government Area.
In it, the former governor formally announced his decision to leave the party.
“I am tendering my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party, effective from April 10, 2026,” he stated.
Mimiko explained that there had been growing uncertainty about his political position in recent months. He said it became necessary to clear the air and make his stance known.
“As I have been somewhat distanced from party activities, I wish to put it on record that I am no longer a member of the PDP,” he said.
The former governor added that his decision was taken calmly. He stressed that it was made without any personal grudges within the party.
