Why APC Is Afraid of ADC — Former Kano Governor Reveals Ahead of 2027 Elections

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Kano State governor, Kabiru Gaya, has claimed that the ruling All Progressives Congress is uneasy about the growing strength of his party.
Gaya made the remarks on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television, monitored by Politics Nigeria.
He spoke on the political climate and what he described as increasing pressure on opposition parties.
According to him, the ruling party is beginning to see the ADC as a real threat. He alleged that the APC had earlier focused its efforts on weakening other opposition platforms, especially the Peoples Democratic Party, but did not anticipate the emergence of a stronger ADC.
He said the same pattern is now being repeated.
“I know the major party is working hard against us. They were not worried at all before, because they have crashed the PDP and other parties. But they didn’t know that ADC was coming up.
“The members of the ADC are totally committed to making sure the party becomes successful. We are doing our best, and we have gone through so many hurdles. We’ve crossed those hurdles, and we believe some of us are old politicians,” he said.
Gaya stressed that the ADC is gaining ground due to the experience within its ranks. He noted that many of its members are seasoned politicians who understand the terrain and are determined to reposition the party ahead of the next election cycle.
He also raised concerns about the role of the Independent National Electoral Commission. He called on the electoral body to remain neutral and fair in its dealings with all political parties.
According to him, credibility in the electoral process will be key to ensuring stability in the country.
The former governor insisted that INEC must act independently and avoid any form of bias. He warned that any perception of partiality could affect public trust in future elections.
