Police Arrest Suspect Over Fatal Accident Involving ABSU Student In Abia

The Abia State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one suspect in connection with a fatal road accident that claimed the life of Ifeanyi Mmesoma Miracle, a 200-level student of Abia State University.
The incident occurred on Sunday along the Okigwe/Afikpo Expressway in Uturu and drew public attention following a viral video showing the victim’s lifeless body at the scene.
Responding to enquiries on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chioma Chinaka, said the accident involved two motorcycles that collided head-on, throwing their passengers onto the road.
According to her, the victim was subsequently run over by an oncoming Mack truck.
“The command is aware of the incident, which occurred at the Water Board area of Uturu on April 19, 2026. Two motorcycles were involved in a head-on collision, causing passengers to be thrown onto the road. This led to the death of Miss Ifeanyi Mmesoma Miracle, who was run over by a moving Mack truck,” Chinaka said.
She added that officers from the Motor Traffic Department visited the scene, while injured victims were taken to hospital and are responding to treatment.
Chinaka further disclosed that the remains of the deceased have been released to her family after confirmation of death by a medical doctor. She noted that the motorcycles and the truck involved in the accident have been recovered and taken to the police station.
The police spokesperson said one suspect is currently in custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend two other suspects in connection with the incident.
