BREAKING: Tinubu endorses Hamzat as APC consensus candidate for 2027 Lagos guber race

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has endorsed Obafemi Hamzat as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 Lagos state governorship election.

The endorsement followed the selection of Hamzat by the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC), the apex political decision-making body of the APC in the state.

Hamzat, who currently serves as deputy governor, is widely regarded as a technocrat with deep roots in Lagos politics and governance.

He has held several key positions in the state, including commissioner for science and technology and commissioner for works and infrastructure.

Gboyega Akosile, spokesman to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, announced the endorsement in a post on X.
He wrote: “President Bola Tinubu has endorsed Dr. Obafemi Hamzat as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC ahead of 2027 Governorship election.”

The endorsement is expected to shape the political landscape in Lagos, where the APC has maintained dominance since the return to democracy in 1999.
