Jandor dares Tinubu, picks APC form despite president’s backing for Lagos deputy governor

Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has obtained the expression of interest and nomination forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the forthcoming elections.
His move comes despite reported backing of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for Obafemi Hamzat as the party’s preferred candidate in Lagos.
Adediran, however, stated that his decision to obtain the forms aligns with the party’s official position on direct primaries.
“In line with the official and current position of the party on direct primaries, I have taken the significant step of formally picking up my Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for the forthcoming elections,” he said.
He said while he respects endorsements by party leaders, he remains guided by the party’s established process.
“While I respect the decisions of some of our Elders and party Leaders, endorsing Aspirant of their choice, I am guided by the official position of the party on direct primaries as communicated to all party members and Aspirants alike,” he said.
Adediran said he would also respect any alternative method adopted by the party for selecting candidates.
“Should the party comes up with the second option of Nominating party Candidates as enshrined in the electoral act 2026, I will sure align and respect the supremacy of the party.
“I am also not unmindful of the fact that the trust of the people is neither given lightly nor sustained by rhetoric alone. It is earned through consistent engagement and an unshakable dedication to the common good,” he said.
Adediran said his ambition is driven by a commitment to deepen democracy and promote collective progress.
“My decision to proceed on this path is therefore anchored in a clear understanding of the challenges before us, and an even clearer resolve to contribute meaningfully to deepening our democracy and advance our shared aspirations for a better society.
“Now, the moment for symbolism gives way to the imperative of action. It is time to do the work deliberately, diligently, and together to achieve the future we seek,” he said.
