JUST IN: ADC reacts to court judgment on party’s state executives
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced that it is reviewing a Federal High Court judgment reportedly sacking its elected but yet-to-be inaugurated state chairmen.
In a statement, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, national publicity secretary of the party, said the ADC’s attention was drawn to media reports on the ruling delivered by Joyce Abdulmalik.
The party said its position remains that the recent congresses did not terminate the tenure of the current state executives.
“It would be recalled that we issued a statement shortly after the congresses stating that the congresses did not truncate the tenure of the current State Executives, which will run their full course before the newly elected State Executives are inaugurated,” Abdullahi stated.
The ADC said it has directed its legal team to review the judgment and advise on the next steps.
“Nevertheless, the leadership of the ADC has instructed its legal team to review the said judgment and advise the party appropriately,” Abdullahi said.
The development comes amid ongoing internal and legal disputes within the party.
