2027: “NDC’s presidential candidature zoned to South” – Buba Galadima

Buba Galadima, a Nigerian politician and member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has affirmed that the party has zoned its presidential candidature to the South.

Galadima said this during an interview on Channels Television on Tuesday, May 5.

This disclosure by the top politician and former chieftain of the defunct All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) comes barely two days after Peter Obi, a 2023 Labour Party candidate and Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former Kano State governor joined the NDC.

According to Galadima, the NDC, in preparation for the forthcoming polls, has perfected plans to submit its register to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He said, “Well, I don’t know whether you’re saying election but I am talking about primaries. That is the major issue before us now: primaries.

“The NDC will submit its register either on the 5th or 6th of this month, that is either tomorrow being Tuesday or Wednesday.

“So, once we do that, we are good to go and we have zoned the party’s presidential candidature to the South,” Galadima said.

He also urged Nigerians who are interested in contesting any elective position in the 2027 elections to register with the party.

“No mincing words, we’ve zoned it to the South, therefore, whoever is from the South, if they want to run, should go and register quickly, today.

“This is so that your name gets into the register before submission to INEC,” he added.
