BREAKING: El-Rufai Arrives Court to Face Fresh ICPC Corruption Charges [VIDEO]
Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Wednesday arrived at the Federal High Court in Kaduna to answer fresh corruption charges filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.
The case follows new legal action by the anti-graft agency, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, which has amended its earlier case against the former governor.
The revised charge now contains nine counts bordering on alleged financial misconduct and conversion of public assets during his time in office.
Court officials confirmed that El-Rufai was brought in amid tight security. He is expected to take his plea on the updated charges before the presiding judge. The proceedings are part of an ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities linked to his administration in Kaduna State.
Sources familiar with the matter also confirmed that the former governor has been in ICPC custody ahead of his court appearance. His legal team is said to be preparing a strong defence against the allegations.
The courtroom area saw increased security presence as supporters and observers gathered to witness the proceedings.
