Army confirms rescue of children, women abducted from Kogi orphanage

The Nigerian Army on Thursday, May 7, confirmed the rescue of the remaining victims abducted from the Daarul-Kitab Islamic Orphanage in Kogi State.
The Army confirmed this in a statement issued by Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army.
Abdullahi said the victims were rescued following a coordinated operation conducted by troops under Operation Tiger Paw II on May 6.
“Acting on credible intelligence and maintaining persistent operational pressure, troops of the Brigade’s Blocking Force intercepted and recovered the victims within the Agbaja Forest general area in Lokoja Local Government Area.
“The rescued victims comprised five boys, two girls, and two adult females, believed to be the wives of the proprietor of the orphanage,” Abdullahi said.
He added that the victims have since been evacuated to the 12 Brigade Medical Centre where they received immediate medical attention and first aid.
“All victims are reported to be in stable condition,” he said.
According to Abdullahi, the coordinated success underscore the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
He also encouraged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts.
