Ex-presidential candidate Peter Ameh formally joins NDC

The 2019 presidential candidate for the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), Peter Ameh has formally joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Ameh said he joined the party to identify with its growing democratic movement and clearer vision for Nigeria and its people.

A former National Chairman of the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Ameh said he has always believed that politics should be guided by integrity, strong internal democracy and genuine service to the people, all of which the NDC represents.

“Our dear country is passing through a very difficult period by reason of either lack of focus or the inability of the incumbent government to come to terms with, or find solutions to the challenges facing the citizenry.

“Our fellow citizens are struggling with economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, and uncertainty about the future with no foreseeable end in sight.

“At a time like this, I believe that patriotic Nigerians and progressive political forces must come together to help build a stronger, credible democratic alternative capable of restoring hope and confidence among our people and salvaging the country from the abyss of hopelessness we have found ourselves in,” Ameh said.

He also explained that his decision to join the NDC stems from his conviction that the party provides the platform for constructive engagement, credible leadership, and people-oriented governance.

The two-time presidential candidate said, being a member of the NDC, would give him the opportunity to contribute towards protecting the leadership of Peter Obi who represents millions of well-meaning Nigerians across the globe.

“I therefore respectfully request that my membership in the NDC be formally accepted.

“I look forward to working with the leadership and members of the party toward strengthening democracy and advancing the collective interest of the Nigerian people,” he said.
