Three terrorists killed, arms recovered as Army launches attack in Zamfara

The Nigerian Army on Thursday said its troops have killed three terrorists during an operation in Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.

This was contained in a statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA.

According to Danja, the troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force (JTF) have continued to record significant successes against terrorists in the state.

He said, “In the early hours of Thursday, 7 May 2026, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, embarked on a fighting patrol to Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas of Zamfara State with the aim of denying terrorists freedom of action within the general area.

“During the operation, troops made contact with armed terrorists at Doumbourum Village, where a fierce firefight ensued,” Danja said.

He noted that during the operation, the troops overwhelmed the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing the criminals to flee in disarray.

He added that a cache of arms and ammunition, including one AK-47 rifle, one machine gun, one locally fabricated handgun, 7 rifle magazines and a total of 571 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the terrorists.

Danja also said that no casualty was recorded on the side of the troops who have shown committment, resilience, and professionalism in the fight against insurgency.
