APC Postpones House of Reps Primaries, Releases Fresh 2027 Timetable

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has postponed its House of Representatives primary election ahead of the 2027 general elections and released a fresh timetable for the exercise.
The party announced that the House of Representatives primaries earlier scheduled to hold this week will now take place on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
According to the party, the adjustment affects only the House of Representatives primary election, while other previously announced dates for the Senate, State House of Assembly, governorship and presidential primaries remain unchanged.
Morka explained that the revised timetable was approved by the party leadership as part of ongoing preparations for the 2027 polls.
Under the new schedule released by the ruling party, the House of Representatives primaries will now hold on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
The Senate primary election is expected to take place on Monday, May 18, 2026, while the State House of Assembly primaries have been fixed for Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
The APC also confirmed that its governorship primary election will hold on Thursday, May 21, 2026, while the presidential primary is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026.
The party, however, did not give detailed reasons for the postponement of the House of Representatives exercise.
