Wike’s ally, Philip Aduda wins APC senatorial ticket for FCT

Senator Philip Aduda, former minority leader of the 9th Senate, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Aduda, an ally of Nyesom Wike, FCT minister, was declared winner on Monday night at the Nicon Luxury Suites in Abuja, which served as the party’s collation centre.

Gogwan Koptong Bangs, chairman of the APC electoral committee and returning officer, announced the result.

Bangs told party members at the venue that Aduda’s emergence followed the withdrawal of Amina Zanna Ibrahim from the race.

He said Ibrahim announced her decision in the presence of security operatives and representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Speaking after the exercise, Aduda thanked party leaders, delegates and supporters across the six area councils of the FCT.

He pledged to work for the unity and electoral success of the APC ahead of the 2027 elections, adding that he would mobilise support for the re-election bid of President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“I will lead from the front to ensure victory for our party. Anything standing in the way of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid will be confronted politically,” he said.

Senator Aduda said ongoing infrastructural projects under Wike had increased support for the APC in the FCT.

“You can see the massive transformation going on across the FCT — roads, bridges, expansion of infrastructure and development across communities. Residents now have every reason to continue supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of Tinubu,” he stated.

He also promised to sponsor laws and policies aimed at promoting good governance and improving the welfare of residents of the territory.
