Days after Okowa’s Senate victory, daughter wins Delta APC Assembly ticket
Marilyn Okowa-Daramola, daughter of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, former governor of Delta State, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Delta State House of Assembly election in Ika North-East Constituency.
Her emergence comes days after Okowa secured the APC senatorial ticket for Delta North ahead of the 2027 general election.
Okowa defeated Senator Ned Nwoko, lawmaker representing Delta North, during the APC senatorial primary.
Marilyn announced her victory in a post on social media while thanking party members and supporters in the constituency.
Her words: “APC Ika North-East, thank you for your unwavering support. I remain fully committed to delivering real impact for our people. The work continues!”
Her victory further consolidates the influence of the Okowa political structure within the APC in Delta state following the recent wave of defections and realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
Okowa, who governed Delta State from 2015 to 2023 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), recently defected to the APC alongside several political allies in the state.
The former governor has since emerged as one of the key political figures within the APC structure in Delta.
