BREAKING: Fubara reveals next move after pulling out of APC Primaries

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has revealed that he is focused on completing ongoing infrastructure projects across the state despite recent political developments.

The governor made this known on Friday barely 48 hours after pulling out from the Gubernatorial Primaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC. Speaking to Journalists during an inspection tour of the new Airport Road Bypass project in Port Harcourt, he expressed satisfaction with the pace of construction work.

According to him, the road project has attained about 65 percent completion and is expected to be delivered before October 2026. Fubara said his administration remains focused on governance and the execution of projects that directly improve the lives of residents, stressing that recent political events would not derail the state’s development agenda.

“I want to assure our people that every meaningful project we have started will be completed by the grace of God. We remain committed and fully focused because Rivers people come first,” the governor stated.

The governor’s remarks come days after he reportedly withdrew from the governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking further on the Airport Road Bypass, Fubara explained that the project was conceived to provide an alternative access route to communities around the airport corridor and reduce disruptions caused by frequent road blockades.

He noted that protests and disputes involving airport host communities had, in the past, led to the closure of the main airport road, negatively affecting commercial and economic activities within the state.

According to him, the bypass will help ease movement and ensure uninterrupted access to the airport, while also improving connectivity for residents in surrounding communities. The governor was accompanied round the construction site by project contractors and senior government officials during the inspection.
