Tinubu’s APC Primary Win Reflects Confidence in His Leadership — Gov Sanwo-Olu

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated President Bola Tinubu on emerging as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He described the outcome as a reflection of the continued confidence party members have in Tinubu’s leadership.
In a statement issued on Monday through the Office of the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Sanwo-Olu said Tinubu’s victory at the APC presidential primary was “well deserved.”
He also commended party members and officials for what he described as a peaceful and well-organised electoral process across the country.
The statement, signed by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, also praised the APC National Working Committee and state executives for ensuring a smooth exercise.
“I congratulate our leader and President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, on his emergence as the presidential candidate of the APC for the 2027 election.
“This victory reflects the confidence and trust that party members across the country continue to place in his leadership and his commitment to building a better Nigeria,” Sanwo-Olu said.
The Lagos governor also noted that the APC’s adoption of direct primaries reflects the party’s commitment to internal democracy.
“The adoption of direct primaries also demonstrates our party’s commitment to strengthening internal democracy by giving members a stronger voice in the selection process,” he stated.
Sanwo-Olu further praised Tinubu’s economic reforms and leadership style, saying the administration had taken bold but necessary decisions to stabilise the economy and set Nigeria on a path of long-term growth.
“Over the last few years, President Tinubu has taken important decisions aimed at stabilising the economy and laying the foundation for long-term growth.
“At critical moments, leadership requires courage and the willingness to take decisions that will move the country forward,” he said.
Expressing optimism about the future, the governor added that Nigerians would continue to support a vision centred on progress and national development.
“The journey continues, and together, we will keep working towards a nation that gives every citizen a fair opportunity to succeed,” he said.
The APC presidential primary, held as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections, produced Tinubu as the party’s flag bearer after he reportedly secured over 10 million votes, defeating his closest challenger, Stanley Osifo.
