‘Betrayer of the North’ — Youths Burn Kwankwaso, NDC Banners [VIDEO]

Northern youths have been captured on video burning a banner bearing the image of former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso and the logo of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).

In the video, the youths were heard shouting “ba ma yi,” a popular Hausa rejection chant meaning “we are not with you.” They also called him the Betrayer of the north.

Kwankwaso is expected to pair up with former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi as his running mate in the 2027 presidential election.

Both Obi and Kwankwaso were previously members of the opposition coalition, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), but recently left for the NDC. Analysts suggest this move favors incumbent President Bola Tinubu, who is seeking reelection, and represents a breach of the opposition’s unity pledge.

The majority of northern opposition leaders are pitched under the ADC.
