Nine-year-old boy kidnapped as gunmen attack Ondo community

A nine-year-old boy was kidnapped during a gunmen attacked Ugbosi quarters in Idogun, Ido-Ani, in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The attack occurred at about 1:30 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, according to the Ondo State Police Command spokesperson, Jimoh Kazeem.
Kazeem said the gunmen stormed the community, firing sporadically and throwing residents into panic, with many fleeing into the surrounding bush.
“During the attack, the assailants forced their way into the residence of Mr. Olaosebikan Isaac. In a desperate bid to save his life, he escaped into the bush, leaving behind his nine-year-old son, Master Olaosebikan Victor, who was subsequently abducted by the armed men,” he said.
Another resident, Mr. Joel Owalekan, reported that the same group damaged his property while attempting to break into his home.
Upon receiving the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer and his team, in collaboration with operatives of the Amotekun Corps, immediately mobilized to the scene and launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation.
Security forces have since combed nearby forests and possible escape routes in a bid to apprehend the attackers.
Exhibits recovered from the scene have been documented as investigations continue.
“The Command is working closely with other security agencies and local vigilante groups to ensure the criminals are brought to justice,” Kazeem added.
He assured residents that every available resource is being deployed to secure the safe rescue of the abducted child.
Kazeem urged members of the public to remain calm and vigilant while cooperating with security agencies by providing any useful information that could aid the investigation.
