BREAKING: Major General Rabe Abubakar’s Widow Rescued [PHOTO]

Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued Hajiya Amina Abubakar, the widow of the late retired Major General Rabe Abubakar.

Hajiya Amina was abducted alongside her husband on May 30 while travelling along the Marabar Musawa–Kafinsoli Road in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The couple was held captive in a bandits’ hideout, where Major General Abubakar, a former Director of Defence Information, later died.

Following his death, the kidnappers released his remains to the authorities, while his wife remained in captivity until her rescue by troops.

According to military sources, the rescue was achieved during intelligence-led operations conducted under Operation CLEAN SWEEP III. Troops reportedly made contact with the bandits at Tunga village during a search-and-rescue mission, forcing the criminals to flee under heavy military pressure.

Sources said the bandits shot Hajiya Amina before abandoning her and escaping as troops closed in on their position. She was rescued by soldiers, given immediate first aid, and evacuated to a medical facility for urgent treatment.

Military authorities said troops have intensified follow-up operations across the area and adjoining communities, maintaining pressure on fleeing bandits and suspected kingpins linked to the abduction.

They added that the ongoing Operation CLEAN SWEEP III will continue until criminal hideouts in the area are dismantled and those responsible for the attack are brought to justice.
